A Contextual and Coherent Reading of Qur’anic Verses on Enslaved Women

This study examines Qur’anic references to *mā malakat aymānukum* through linguistic, contextual, thematic, and coherence analysis. It explores the relationship between marriage, chastity, consent, privacy, and moral responsibility in verses concerning enslaved women. The study argues that, although the Qur’an distinguishes between free and enslaved women, its broader ethical framework does not support treating enslaved women as objects of unrestricted sexual use.
